Abstract

The imam cadre program plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of spiritual leadership in Muslim communities. Masjid Jami' Al Mujaddid in Sabang, Aceh, has developed a cadre program aimed at producing imams who are not only proficient in tajwid and memorization of the Quran but also possess a deep understanding of fiqh and leadership skills. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the cadre program and identify supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that the program successfully improves the quality of the imams produced, with participants who can lead congregations effectively and engage actively in religious activities. Strong support from the mosque management, a well-structured curriculum, and intensive training are the main factors supporting the program's success. However, challenges such as limited funding and low youth participation need to be addressed. This study contributes by offering recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of the imam cadre program through the adoption of modern learning technologies and increased youth participation. Thus, the program not only strengthens the mosque's role as a center for worship and education but also helps build a foundation for nurturing a generation of competent imams who have a positive impact on the community.
